The College of Resources and Environmental Engineering of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was founded in 1958 and is one of the earliest colleges established by Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. Its predecessor was the Department of Geology and Mining, the Department of Mineral Processing and Chemistry, and the Department of Mining. In 2001, it was the College of Environment and Building Engineering of Southern Metallurgical University, and in 2006, it was the College of Resources and Environmental Engineering.

The college currently has 5 undergraduate majors, including Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Bioengineering.
