On Dec. 23rd, a delegation of Bureau of Major R&D Programs, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the Huangjin Campus of JXUST. Accompanied by Professor Luo Sihai, Chair of the University Council, Professor Yang Bin, president of JXUST, the 11 guests visited the rare earth research facilities, for instance, Rare Earth Luminescent Materials Research Institute, Rare Earth Laser Crystal Research Institute, Rare Earth Magnetic Materials and Devices Research Institute, Ionic Resources Green Extraction Research Institute, and Flash Green Development and Recycling Research Institute.  The principal investigators of each research institute introduced their achievements in terms of platform services, technology transfer, personnel training and industrial chain, etc.

Mr. Shen Baogeng, director of the delegation, who is also one of the academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the lead national scientific institution in natural sciences and high technology development in China and the country's supreme scientific advisory body, held discussions with the rare earth researchers of JXUST. As a school based in Ganzhou, reputed to be the “kingdom of rare earth”, JXUST can make more contributions to the development of rare earth industry, Shen pointed out. By the next two years, a Research Institute of Rare Earths is scheduled to be set up in Ganzhou by the CAS and Jiangxi Provincial Government.
