On March 27th, Professor Huang Longbin from the University of Queensland, Australia, was invited to the university for exchange. Our dean He Guichun, vice dean Yu Xinyang, and the relevant person in charge of the university's International Exchange and Cooperation Office received Professor Huang Longbin.

Huang Longbin gave an academic lecture titled "The Challenge of Innovative Knowledge Transformation and Technology Development and the Ecological System Restoration of Rare Earth Tailings and Abandoned Mines" at the Yifu Building Academic Lecture Hall in the Golden Campus. More than a hundred teachers and students from related majors in our hospital attended the lecture. The lecture will be hosted by He Guichun.

Huang Longbin stated that only by adapting scientific and technological achievements to the needs of the country, the people, and the market, and completing the three level leap from scientific research to experimental development, and then to promotion and application, can they truly be transformed into real productivity and achieve innovation driven development. How to transform innovative achievements into real productivity is a problem that scientific researchers need to pay attention to. He emphasized that scientific researchers should focus their knowledge on major industries and write papers on economic construction.

Huang Longbin introduced four methods for ecological restoration of mineral resources: first, natural restoration, which means that mining damaged land can be gradually restored by relying on the self-regulation ability of the ecosystem, without the need for engineering intervention; The second is to assist in regeneration. The surface soil of mining damaged land is not suitable for vegetation growth, and land leveling, surface soil coverage, and fertilization are necessary to gradually restore the damaged ecosystem; The third is ecological reconstruction. Engineering measures need to be taken to eliminate hidden geological and environmental problems in mining areas, such as landform reshaping, soil reconstruction, and vegetation reconstruction; The fourth is transformation and utilization, where mining damaged land can be restored to arable land for agricultural production, or restored to urban and rural construction land for various construction activities. Huang Longbin hopes that his classmates will maintain a serious and respectful attitude in their research direction and achieve success in their own research direction.

In his summary, He Guichun stated that the ultimate goal of technological development is to promote the transformation of science and technology into direct productivity. Scientific researchers should not only be able to do the most basic research, but also be able to "enter the ground" - convert research into production.

Huang Longbin was also invited to have a discussion and exchange in the first conference room of Yifu Building in the Golden Campus. He Guichun, Yu Xinyang, as well as relevant leaders of the school's International Exchange and Cooperation Office, relevant department heads of our school, and teachers participated in the discussion.

At the meeting, Huang Longbin briefly introduced the relevant situation of the University of Queensland in Australia, focusing on his research direction, achievements, and team building. He Guichun introduced the basic situation of the school and college. The two sides discussed and exchanged ideas on the development direction of mine ecological restoration, as well as on the scientific research improvement of young teachers and the cultivation of graduate students.

Huang Longbin, a full-time professor at the Institute of Sustainable Minerals at the University of Queensland, Australia, has established the field of mining ecological engineering technology and research team, and served as a discipline leader. We have studied and established the ecological engineering technology theory and technical system for tailings soil formation. Focusing on the research and development of pollution control and ecological restoration technologies for iron ore and non-ferrous metal tailings, I have been engaged in the remediation of highly polluted land in mines for many years, especially the theoretical and technical research on the governance of metal tailings ponds and the restoration of geomorphic systems. So far, the departments undertaken
