Recently, Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education issued the notice on publishing the list of national science and technology innovation platform cultivation projects (GaN Jiao Yan Zi 〔2022〕 7). The "Key Laboratory for efficient development and utilization of rare metal resources" declared by our university was approved as a national science and technology innovation platform cultivation project.
The Key Laboratory for the efficient development and utilization of rare metal resources is established for the layout of the efficient development and utilization of rare metal resources in China. It has four research directions: the theory and method of efficient mining and beneficiation of rare metal resources, the theory and technology of green metallurgy of rare metal resources, the research and development and manufacturing technology of key materials of rare metals, and the theory and technology of environmental governance and ecological restoration of rare metal mines.
The laboratory will adhere to the "two wheel drive" strategy of serving the national strategic needs and local economic construction, and take the initiative to connect with the development plans and industry needs of Jiangxi Province, such as the action plan for high-quality leapfrog development of 2 + 6 + N industry (about 2019-2023). Through five years of construction, the laboratory will be built into a domestic leading high-level research and high-level talent training base with certain international influence in the field of rare metal resources and environment, comprehensively improve the basic and applied basic research level in the field of rare metal resources and environment, and become an important support for industrial transformation and upgrading and local economic development.
It is reported that in order to implement the decision-making and deployment of the central government on strengthening the national strategic scientific and technological force and the action of Jiangxi provincial Party committee and provincial government on implementing the scientific and technological innovation platform, strengthen the construction of the national scientific and technological innovation platform of colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province, improve the overall construction level and influence of the platform, support the "double first-class" construction in Jiangxi Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period, and help Jiangxi develop by leaps and bounds with high quality, The Provincial Department of Education decided to cultivate a number of national scientific and technological innovation platforms such as national key laboratories, national technological innovation centers, national manufacturing innovation centers and national industrial innovation centers during the 14th Five Year Plan period. This time, through the working procedures of application and recommendation, expert review and result publicity, it is decided to be included in 10 national science and technology innovation platform cultivation projects.
