Recently, the Department of Science, Technology and Information Technology of the Ministry of Education issued a notice on the cultivation and construction project of key laboratories of the Ministry of Education (Education Science and Information Technology Department [2023] No. 18). The "Key Laboratory for Green Development and Utilization of Strategic Rare Metal Mineral Resources" led by our school and our institute has been approved for the cultivation and construction project of key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, and only 15 units in the country have been approved for establishment and cultivation.
The "Key Laboratory for Green Development and Utilization of Strategic Rare Metal Mineral Resources" of the Ministry of Education, led by Professor He Guichun, the dean of our institute, focuses on four research directions: the theory and methods of strategic rare metal mineral resource mining and selection, the comprehensive utilization of strategic rare metal secondary resources and environmental protection, the theory and technology of strategic rare metal green metallurgy, and the research and manufacturing technology of strategic rare metal key materials, It aims to build a leader in high-end technology of strategic metals, a wutong tree for high-level talent team, a reservoir for high-level talent training, and an accelerator for industry and local economic industry, focusing on solving key scientific problems in the mining, dressing and metallurgy industry chain, building a first-class industry oriented R&D platform, building a high-level talent team and talent training platform, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of strategic rare metal industry.
The "Key Laboratory for Green Development and Utilization of Strategic Rare Metal Mineral Resources" of the Ministry of Education focuses on the mining and selection of rare gold resources, smelting, new material industry chain, and secondary resource recovery and environmental protection, forming a batch of high-level research achievements and technological demonstrations. Currently, the laboratory has more than 100 projects of all levels and types, won more than 30 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and Provincial Science and Technology Awards, authorized more than 80 patents, and has more than 150 high-level papers, 15 academic monographs.
It is reported that in order to further optimize the layout of key laboratories under the Ministry of Education, guide universities to focus on basic research, applied basic research, and cutting-edge scientific technology, carry out organized scientific research, gather and cultivate high-quality innovative talents, serve national strategic needs and industry and regional development needs, strengthen the construction of laboratories in weak disciplines and underdeveloped areas, and on the basis of organizing applications and expert evaluations, after research, The key laboratory cultivation and construction project of the Ministry of Education has been determined.
