He pointed out that the holding of this conference is not only a measure to implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents under the conditions of the new era, but also an important practical exploration to improve the quality of geological professional talent cultivation.
Tang Huiming gave a work report on behalf of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Geological Majors. He pointed out that the construction of new engineering focuses on four tasks: firstly, the new economy characterized by new technologies, industries, formats, and models calls for new engineering; Secondly, the in-depth implementation of a series of major national strategies calls for new engineering disciplines; Thirdly, industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as the transformation of old and new driving forces, call for new engineering disciplines; Fourthly, enhancing international competitiveness and national hard power calls for new engineering disciplines.
Professor He Guichun, the dean of our college, gave a themed report on "Focusing on National Strategy, Practicing Mining for the Country - Construction and Practice of a Comprehensive Geological and Mineral Talent Training Model in Local Universities", introducing the systematic construction of new engineering disciplines and talent training programs in the field of geology and mineral resources, as well as educational and teaching reforms in ideological and political education, curriculum teaching, practical teaching, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and international education, The relevant situation of cultivating high-quality geological and mineral talents in the new era.

During the meeting, participants focused on topics such as "discussion on ideological and political construction of geological and mineral majors, exchange of experience in building first-class majors and courses, and discussion on talent cultivation of geological majors under the background of large-scale enrollment." They were divided into four working groups for in-depth discussions: geological engineering, exploration and technical engineering, resource exploration engineering, and groundwater science and engineering.
It is reported that this meeting aims to deeply implement the requirements of the National Conference on Undergraduate Education in Higher Education Institutions in the New Era, implement the "people-oriented" approach, promote the "four returns", and promote the construction of first-class geological majors and courses in higher education institutions.
